JJ is originally from upstate New York and has called Pinellas county home for the last 43 years. Married to his wife, Heather, for 22 years, together they have 2 sons, Liam age 17 and Quinn age 10. “Besides my faith, my family is the most important aspect of my life. They are a major reason why I do what I do.”
JJ’s introduction to insurance came by way of a personal and frightening experience. What began as a birthday celebration for his son ended with a trip to the hospital after JJ unexpectedly passed out. Like most people in that situation “What if?” is the question he asked himself that day. What if it wasn’t a random event? What if instead of a common vasovagal episode his heart had stopped, leaving his family without provision? Thank goodness this wasn’t the case, but it was a catalyst for change.
JJ knew he had to make a plan for his family, so he took the first step. He called up a friend who was a risk advisor specializing in life insurance. Talking about life planning was uncomfortable but given the alternative he knew it was necessary to ensure his family’s future. As the appointment came to a close and peace settled over him, JJ asked the question that would begin to change his career, “Tell me about your job.” His friend responded, “It’s not a job, it’s a mission.”
For the last 3 years, JJ has made it his mission to help individuals protect their families from a potentially devastating financial loss. “Most people think like I did, tragedy is something that happens to other people. Another common misconception is that protection is too expensive.”
Working now at Strategic Insurance in the Personal Lines department, JJ is providing protection and service for his clients in all aspects of Personal Lines insurance, including life insurance, where his journey first began.
